The authorities aim to award the promoters of integrity in healthcare, who will be selected at a contest. The managers of public health facilities by December 19 can present a self-assessment report to the Ministry of Health and the National Anticorruption Center, IPN reports.
Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said the phenomenon of corruption is a problem that generates dissatisfaction and greater polarization in society and leads to lower confidence not only in medical institutions, but also in state institutions and perpetuates inequality and poverty. “The reputation of the health system is now probably the worst one in the past I known and forces should be combined to overcome a number of barriers and change things […] The number of correct, honest, skillful persons is much higher. We will have to make effort and it will be hard in parts as there will be barriers, but our children deserve to live in a society based on values,” stated the official.
Alexandr Pînzari, director of the National Anticorruption Center, said the prevention and combating of corruption are the foundation for strengthening the integrity mechanism and promoting social values, in particular for the proper functioning of state institutions and the healthcare sector is one of the key areas. “In concert with the partners, we set the goal of staging the “Promoter of Integrity in Healthcare” contest that is intended for public healthcare institutions of the country and is designed to promote institutional integrity and to put to good use the results achieved and efforts made by the Center and the Ministry of Health as part of information and awareness-raising campaigns,” stated Alexandr Pînzari.
National Health Insurance Company director general Ion Dodon said that corruption is dangerous. To prevent and fight this phenomenon, all the forms in which corruption manifests itself should be identified. “Everything starts from the manager, from the one who organizes the work of a medical institution, from the deputies of this, subdivision heads who are first of all an example and are a mechanism for monitoring and controlling the work of the other mates,” noted the functionary.
The contest is organized by the National Anticorruption Center together with the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Company in partnership with the Swiss Red Cross in the framework of the Health Equality through Social Accountability Project. The winners will be presented at the Promoter of Integrity in Healthcare Award Gala.
