The absolute priority of Moldova’s foreign policy is shaped clearly and pragmatically: it remains firmly anchored in the European modernization process that is the major objective of the country’s domestic and external agenda, acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, noted in a message disseminated on the occasion of the Day of Diplomats that is annually celebrated on January 17, IPN reports.

Aureliu Ciocoi expressed his gratitude for the prodigious activity of the Moldovan diplomatic service to the colleagues from the central staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and of the country’s embassies and consular officers abroad.

“The scrupulous, heroic and professional work you do to strengthen the profile of the Republic of Moldova at foreign level is highly appreciated by the communities of Moldovans abroad and by the citizens from our country,” stated the acting Prime Minister.

“Moldova’s diplomatic service, despite the challenges of the pandemic, showed a high level of mobilization and professional responsibility, offering prompt assistance to tens of thousands of stricken compatriots all over the world and promoted our national interests, especially amid the direction of the assistance and facilitation of the exchange of information with our international partners that is of vital importance in alleviating the consequences of COVID-19 and strengthening our national health system.”

The Day of Diplomats in Moldova has been marked on January 17 since 2015.
