If the Alliance for the Union of Romanians enters Parliament, the party will form a coalition with the Party of Action and Solidary and with the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. It will not ally itself with parties led by Igor Dodon, Vladimir Voronin, Ilan Shor and Renato Usatîi, AUR leader Vlad Biletski announced in a news conference at IPN on June 17.
According to Vlad Biletski, the AUR’s candidates for MP are followed by police officers under cover and the collected information is furnished to Minister of the Interior Pavel Voicu and the Socialist leader Igor Dodon. These actions form part of a plan of the pro-Russian parties by which attempts are made to exclude the AUR from the electoral race. “We asked for an audience with Pavel Voicu, but the Ministry of the Interior issued only a press release. 99.9% of the policemen are honest persons, but the Ministry’s administration presses them into fulfilling illegal orders,” stated Vlad Biletski.
The AUR Moldova president also said that the politicians failed to eliminate the party from the race for the July 11 snap parliamentary elections as the Supreme Court of Justice rejected their request as inadmissible.
The AUR calls on the pro-European parties to sign a public commitment by which they will pledge not to form an alliance with the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists, the Shor Party and the Bloc “Renato Usatîi” in the future Parliament. In the absence of this commitment, a lot of space remains for interpretations, noted the AUR leader.
Vlad Biletski urged the PAS to remove Natalia Davidovici from the party’s list of candidates (No. 11) as she earlier campaigned for Renato Usatîi and asserted publicly that Romania occupied the Republic of Moldova.
Liberal leader Dorin Chirtoacă, who runs for MP on behalf of the AUR, said good times will come to the Republic of Moldova only if the union with Romania is ensured. The Alliance for the Union of Romanians aims to forge the union until 2025 by obtaining a parliamentary majority. The union with Romania is the only method of entering NATO and the EU. Romania has 46 counties, while the Republic of Moldova would have six counties. After the union, 1/6 of Romania’s state budget costs would be intended for the Republic of Moldova. 20% of the Romanian MPs will be from the Republic of Moldova. 1/6 of the posts of minister and other public posts will also be for people from the Republic of Moldova. When Moldova forms part of Romania, representatives of the national minorities of Moldova will sit in Romania’s Parliament.
Also, Moldova will benefit from larger European funds compared with those that are now allocated by the EU. The minimum pension will be of €200, while some of the pensions will be of even €1,000, as the current pension of some of the older persons in Romania. The AUR is the only party that undertakes to provide allocations to children until the age of 18, in the amount of €60-100 a month. Since birth and until the age of 18, a Romanian citizen receives allowances totaling €12,000, noted Dorin Chirtoacă.
AUR candidate Igor Hâncu reminded that some of the polls show over 40% of the Moldovans are for the union with Romania. It is normal for the unionists to be present in Moldova’s Parliament. “We should vote the greater good, not the lesser evil,” urged the candidate.
