Members of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) and sympathizers of the party picketed the building of the Ministry of the Interior, demanding not to allow the law enforcement agencies to interfere in the political activity of the party. According to the party’s leader Vlad Bilețchi, the protest was mounted  after police officers from Orhei on June 12 hampered the mounting of a protest in front of the mayor’s office in this town, IPN reports.

Vlad Bilețchi said the police receive illegal orders to prevent them from conducting the election campaign. The police became a political cudgel in the hands of bandits. The power is most probably abused on the instruction of Ilan Shor.

“We are an inconvenient party for the corrupt and politically controlled system. This is seen in the multiple intimidation actions of the police. I’m sure that the police include sincere and patriotic employees, but such incidents show to us that the employees of the Ministry of the Interior receive political orders from those who robbed this country during many years: Dodon, Plahotniuc, Shor. We demand to stop these abuses as we want a campaign without incidents and challenges,” said Vald Bilețchi.

At the end of the protest, the party’s leader filed an application to this effect to the Ministry.



Also today, the Ministry of the Interior issued a press release, saying the attitude of some of the election contenders that apply doable standards towards the actions of the Ministry’s representatives when party members are investigated as culprits and when persons are classed as victims is worrisome.

The Ministry noted the bus of members and supported of the AUR was illegally parked in front of the Orhei mayor’s office on 12.06.2021. The driver ignored the road sign and was fined for illegal parking. Also, on 11.06.2021 the police were informed that an aggressive person damaged the window of the AUR bus in Vadul lui Vodă town. The person who seemed to be inebriated was detained and identified and will be fined.  One of these cases is used by an election runner to obtain presence in the media even if both of the cases represent violations of the Contravention Code. The law is law and everyone should obey it, regardless of the political color of the person or of the unit of transport.
