The identity card, which will gradually replace the identity cards, will be put into circulation as soon as the necessary technical conditions are in place, but no later than March 31 this year. In a reply to IPN, the Public Services Agency says that prices have not yet been set. They will be approved by a government decision following an evaluation of the cost of the equipment and accessories needed to complete the ID card.
People who have an electronic signature will be able to access information services online, including abroad. This will be possible thanks to an electronic data storage chip that will be embedded in the ID card and will include the qualified e-signature certificate.
"This will improve citizens' interaction with public authorities and will advance the process of digitization of public services," the ASP says in its response to IPN.
There are several differences between ID cards and ID cards. The new type of ID card will no longer contain information about domicile or temporary residence. The change of domicile or residence service will be accessible online.
The ID card will be issued without an accompanying sheet. From the date the ID card is put into circulation, the accompanying documents will no longer be necessary, even if you continue to use an ID card issued before the specified changes.
The deadlines for issuing identity documents will not be changed. It will be possible to apply for issuance within 20, 10, 5 or one working day, as well as on the day of address.
The ASP also specifies that all types of identity cards issued to Moldovan citizens will be considered valid until the expiry date. However, individuals may, on their own initiative, exchange their ID card for an identity card.
In March 2024, the Public Services Agency announced the introduction of the new model of identity document - ID card, which meets European standards.
