As in Hot and Cold game. IPN Experts

One of the patriarchs of Moldovan politics, the president of honor of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) Dumitru Diacov, already makes forecasts for the post-electoral period. In the talk show “Forth power” broadcast by N4channel on November 29, 2018, Dumitru Diacov said that “those who will cause early elections will not have chances of entering the next Parliament”. It happens even if the election campaign prior to the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 hasn’t yet started. Anyway, it is interesting what one of the most experienced Moldovan politicians meant as he cannot say empty words?

At first sight, the statement seems to be vague and insubstantial. That’s why in order to follow an ascending path, as in the Hot and Cold game, the founder of the PDM made one more statement, saying “no political party or electoral bloc will obtain a majority of seats in the next legislature”. This is already warmer and things started to take shape. At least we can deduce that Dumitru Diacov is sure the party he represents, the PDM, will hot win an absolute majority of seats. This is a pity! After so many good deeds, presents, baskets with foods, concerts, administrative resources spent, etc., the people are not yet ready to fully entrust their fates to the PDM. But the people will have no other way out. Even if they don’t like the PDM, this party will anyway remain in power, evidently to do good things for them.

To further clarify the enigma, Dumitru Diacov made the third statement – “The PDM does not intend to form a coalition with the Party of Socialists after the elections because this party pleads for another direction, the Eurasian one”. It’s now hot! If Dumitru Diacov is confident that not even the PSRM will obtain an absolute majority, as the PDM, while the latter says it does not want to form a coalition with the first and vice versa, who will the PDM accept as a potential partner? Oh, yes – the independents!  Stop, it’s cold again as Dumitru Diacov specified that: “most of the candidates will be attached to a particular party and there will not be many independents in the upcoming elections!”.

Does the PDM intend to embrace the bloc ACUM as a majority coalition partner? It’s hard to believe something like this as Dumitru Diacov himself, alongside his colleagues from the Democratic and Socialist parliamentary groups, recently reached the conclusion that the ACUM leaders are potential Russian spies who work in favor of the aggressor in the hybrid war waged by Russia against the Republic of Moldova! Did the founder of the PDM forget that he voted the decision formulated by the parliamentary commission of inquiry? Or maybe Dumitru Diacov does not really care about the conclusions of the given commission?

If the last conclusion is right and it seems that it is right, we can deduce that Dumitru Diacov alluded to the fact that the bloc ACUM anyway has no other way out than to accept the asphyxiating embraces of the PDM. Or, as it can be deduced from the first statement of the PDM founder, ACUM would see its end at the eventual early elections it would cause if it refused to accept an alliance with the PDM. And only now we came closer to the mysterious enigma of Dumitru Diacov – will ACUM prefer to see its end coming by causing early elections or to accept the asphyxiating embraces of the PDM, as other parties – the PCRM, PLDM, PL, PPEM – did? To see the denouement and the solving of this mystery, it is really worth taking part all together in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. The electoral period starts on December 1. So, everyone at the polls!
