As CIS chair, Moldova will honorably prepare celebration of Victory in Great Patriotic War: Voronin

“Moldova will intensely deal with honorably preparing the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and will grant help to veterans,” President Vladimir Voronin stated in Bishkek, after taking over the CIS chair from Kyrgyzstan. According to the presidential press unit, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, Vladimir Voronin has stated that in 2009 “the energy problems become a priority, on which all the sides will have to focus their special attention.” “Moldova, as the chair country, is intent to actively contribute to developing and carrying out concrete measures to solve the energy problems of the Community's states,” the release reads. At the summit of the Community of Independent States in the Kyrgyz capital, the Moldovan president was invited to pay a trip to Kazakhstan by his Kazakhstani counterpart and he invited the Kyrgyz president to Chisinau. The CIS summit of October 9-10 is the first after Georgia pulled out of the organization. Of the presidents of GUAM, a regional organization consisting of Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, only President Voronin attended the Bishkek reunion.
