Starting Monday, conductors on Chisinau trolleybus will issue tickets with a new design and improved security features to deter falsification.

According to the Mayor’s Office, the new model is 29x47 mm in size, is made of newspaper-grade paper of a gray shade, and has printed iridescent features. The municipality spent 430,000 lei to print the new tickets.

The initiative comes from the Chisinau Electric Transport Company RTEC and aims to reduce the loss of revenue associated with the sale of falsified tickets. Some 4,000 false tickets were discovered in the last 12 months.

RTEC registers some 150 million rides annually.
