Fifteen employees of the General Border Police Inspectorate are investigated in a case of corruption that was started on June 23 based on operational information. It refers to 60 episodes, 38 of which are cases of taking bribe, while the rest are contraventions. It was determined that employees of the Border Police Sector “Chisinau International Airport” illegally obtained €50 to €100 from passengers who intended to leave the country and who were suspected of presenting false PCR COVID-19 test results. The Border Police employees also extorted money from Moldovans and foreigners who planned to leave the Republic of Moldova through the Chisinau International Airport for not drawing up reports on the violation of the self-isolation regime against them.
