A man aged 43 was arrested by the police in a shopping center in Chisinau after a pistol and ammunition were found on him. The Chisinau Police Division said the 902 service was called by employees of the shopping center’s guard, who said that an individual behaved strangely and had a bag with a gun in it, IPN reports.

The police found a pistol and munitions kept illegally in the man’s bag. They seized and sealed up the gun and sent it to the lab for the ballistic examination. Steps are being taken to establish the origin of the pistol. At the man’s home, the police officers found identification papers with evident signs of falsification and other documents holding interest for the investigators.

The individual was placed under arrest for 72 hour. Two criminal cases were started against him, over illegal keeping of arms and ammunition and over hooliganism. The man faced three to seven years in jail.
