Former MP Arina Spătaru, who heads the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in Moldova, said that in April she denounced MP Alexandr Nesterovschi, who tried “to buy her for Ilan Shor”. According to her, investigations were then launched within the criminal case started over illegal financing of political parties by the fugitive MP, she acting as an agent under cover, IPN reports.
Arina Spătaru told a news conference that since she made the denouncement, she has cooperated with the law enforcement agencies and had also discussions with the chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Veronica Dragalin. In the meantime, she discussed with Ilan Shor and even travelled to his luxurious villa in Israel, helping to localize the fugitive politician. She listened to his diabolic plans and received a mobile phone with the Bria application through which Shor contacted her and gave her instructions.
“I realized the risk to which I exposed myself. You cannot imagine how brazen and impertinent Shor was. He sent Nesterovschi to my home, my workplace, to the supermarket. He spoke to me on the phone with flattery, manipulation so as to buy me as at the market and to engage me in the dirty games of the Kremlin,” related the ex-MP.
Arina Spataru noted that Ilan Shor confirmed that he enjoys Russia’s support and said that he has influence over prosecutors, judges and even over particular MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity.
According to her, the League of Cities and Communes was the pro-European party that Ilan Shor was to take over. This party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Mihai Bagas is a childhood friend of Shor.
More details about the case to which Arina Spătaru referred were presented by prosecutors in the Parliament sitting in which Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi were stripped of parliamentary immunity. The two MPs were arrested on charges of illegal financing for the party accepted from an organized criminal group led by Ilan Shor.
