Liberal-Democratic lawmaker George Mocanu voiced hope that the Republic of Moldova will continue to be ruled by the pro-European alliance even if the politicians made mistakes because they did not have experience in ruling as part of a coalition. In the public debate “Culture of the political crisis: realities, necessities and norms” on March 19, the MP said that the country must go through the purgatory of the political crisis in order to purify itself, IPN reports.

”I hope that Moldova will be ruled by an alliance. We are a patriarchal society. We want to have a father who would instruct us and direct us. We must go through this purgatory so that we purify ourselves and ensure access to information and transparency. The crisis may have negative effects on the politicians, but the population will benefit from it. If we are not understood, the politicians will be probably penalized,” said George Mocanu.

He also said that the communication is the major instrument for overcoming the political crisis. “I mean double communication – between the partners and with the public. The effects of the political crisis are both positive and negative. This is a purification method. The politicians are facing a crisis of ideas, a crisis of personality. This crisis reveals things that were not known. We are bothered by the disputes on the TV and in public. But these discussions help increase the people’s level of political culture. Nothing was known earlier,” stated George Mocanu

He believes the conclusion that should be drawn from the political crisis is that a lot of communication is needed, including with the opposition. Moldova needs purification, while the beneficial effects will be felt later.
