President Maia Sandu signed decrees to dismiss Veronica Sirețeanu from the post of minister of finance and to appoint Petru Rotaru to this position. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Presidential Palace on Thursday afternoon, IPN reports.

The President’s Office said that Petru Rotaru will take an oath of office as minister of finance in the presence of Maia Sandu. The ceremony was set for 3pm.

Petru Rotaru has worked in the financial-fiscal sector since 2006, both in the private sector and in the public sector. In 2010-2012, he managed the Ialoveni State Tax Inspectorate, while since March 2023 – the State Tax Inspectorate. He graduated from the Faculty of Finance of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. He has a master’s degree in fiscal-financial law from the same institution.
