The Chisinau City Appeals Court interrupted the hearing to examine the challenge to the Central Election Commission’s decision concerning the polling stations that are to be established outside the country for the July 11 snap parliamentary elections until 1pm. Until then, the judges are to examine an application to replace judge Veronica Negru, which was submitted by PPPDA leader Andrei Năstase, IPN reports.

Andrei Năstase said he considered Veronica Negru is not objective and equidistant and shows to be incompetent. This judge has direct communication with the servants of the former regime of Plahotniuc, according to him.

Renato Usatîi, the leader of the electoral bloc “Renato Usatîi”, noted that the process is delayed as someone aims to improve the political rating by making a new replacement request. He considers this is a very cheap show staged by judges and also by election contenders.

This is the seventh hearing of the Chisinau City Appeals Court on the issue. In the previous ones, there were examined a number of request to replace judges. Ecaterina Palanciuc was substituted with Veronica Negru.

Two days ago, the Chisinau City Appeals Court asked the Constitutional Court to determine the constitutionality of provisions of the Electoral Code concerning the establishment of polling stations outside the country. The CC held that the application does not meet the admissibility conditions and cannot be accepted for examination.

The CEC decided to establish only 146 polling stations intended for the diaspora. The Electoral Bloc “Renato Usatîi”, PPPDA, PAS, PUN and AUR challenged this decision. The examination of the case started on June 10.
