Modern water supply and sewer cleaning equipment will be set up at the company “Apa-Canal” SA. This is stipulated in the protocol of cooperation between the municipality of Chisinau and the Romanian Pitesti municipality signed on the City Day. The protocol centers on the cooperation between SC “Apa-Canal 2000” SA Pitesti and SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”. According to Stela Busuioc, specialist of the Chisinau City Hall’s Foreign Relations and Regional Cooperation Department, the agreement envisages cooperation in supplying drinking water and carrying sewage away. There will be carried out chemical and biological analyses of the water and organized awareness-raising campaigns on environment protection. At the same time, the two municipalities will cooperate in education by organizing student exchange programs and equipping the chemical laboratories of a number of Chisinau schools, Stela Busuioc said. Other articles of the protocol concern the strengthening of cooperation between the Chisinau Municipal Council and the Local Council Pitesti by exchanging information and experience in improving qualifications and the decision-making process through debates over political and social-economic issues. The cooperation in the area of European integration and interregional cooperation between the two municipalities envisions implementation of joint projects to pass on know-how, provision of consultations, training of personnel in compliance with the European principles and standards. The cooperation protocol signed by the Mayors of the two municipalities, Dorin Chirtoaca and Tudor Pendiuc, must be approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council and the Local Council Pitesti.
