An Antiterrorist Center within the Intelligence Service of Moldova (SIS) will be created in the Republic of Moldova. The draft law was elaborated by SIS in order to carry out the provisions of the Law on Combating Terrorism and was approved this week by the Cabinet Council. The creation of the Antiterrorist Center constitutes one of the objectives include in the National Program on implementing the Action Plan Moldova-EU as well as the Individual Plan of Actions of the Partnership Moldova – NATO. The center will have the mission of technically coordinating the measures related to the prevention and combating terrorism by public authorities. Also, it will deal with the estimation of risk factors and major terrorist threats for the national security of the Republic of Moldova; accumulation and analysis of information as regards the dynamic state of affairs and international terrorism’s expanding tendencies. At the creation stage of the antiterrorist center about MDL 1.1 mln will be spent. Subsequently the financing of the center will be included in the budgetary financial means planned for SIS. In the near future, the Government will approve the regulation, structure and personnel of the center.
