Anticorruption inspector involved in road accident faces up to seven years in jail
A senior inspector of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, who fatally struck a woman by his car near the Central Market in Chisinau, will serve three to seven years in jail if found guilty, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Prosecutor General’s Office says it was established that the inspector driving a BMW did not give way to a bus moving legally on June 23 at about 8am. As a result of the collision, the car was projected onto the sidewalk and hit the woman, who died shortly afterward.
In another communiqué, Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime announces that it possesses no official information about its employees being involved in the June 23 traffic accident. “No data about the identity of the person has been yet revealed. The Prosecutor General’s Office is the only body entitled to furnish information about this case,” said the Center.
