ANRE won over 90 litigations with power suppliers in consumers’ favor
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) announced that it has won in consumers’ favor, who requested the involvement of the regulation authority, over 90 litigations with power suppliers.
According to Agency’s press release, in 74 cases examined in the first semester of 2006, the suppliers satisfied, with Agency’s involvement, consumers’ requests, and in 19 cases made the recalculation of the sums of money presented previously for power consumption.
The majority of complaints on power consumption issue were submitted, as before, by the consumers served by the supplying enterprises of Union Fenosa Group (UF) in Moldova, according to the press release. In majority of cases, the consumers contested the charges of illegal consumption presented by the supplier, the sums of money presented for the services, as well as the quality of the services provided by the mentioned enterprises.
Agency’s specialists explain the great number of complaints submitted by the consumers served by UF by the fact that the responsible persons of this company do not honor their duties on consumers’ protection, especially on explaining their rights and duties, power supply contracts concluding. The representatives of the regulating authority note that usually the consumers do not the procedure of solving the misunderstandings appeared in the relationships with the power supplier.
In the first semester of 2006, NAER examined 354 complaints of the consumers, of them 320 regarding the activity of the enterprises of the power-energy sector and 34 – natural gas and thermal energy sector. If compared with the same period of 2005, the number of complaints addressed to NAER reduced by 20%.
On July 1, 2006, the power suppliers of Moldova had about 1.237 million consumers, and the natural gas supplier – over 502,000 consumers.
