On Friday, MP Gheorghe Susarenco announced he leaves the parliamentary faction of the Christian Democrat People’s Party (PPCD). Susarenco announced his leave during the debates on the bill for amending the Parliament Regulations intended to cease the live transmissions of plenary sitting on national TV and radio stations. Gheorghe Susarenco recalled that live broadcasting of Parliament sittings was one of the main conditions, of those 10, brought by PPCD on April 4, when electing Vladimir Voronin as President of Moldova. After the Christian-democrat and communist MPs voted for the respective amendment, Susarenco told reporters that his statement from the central rostrum remains in force and he gives his membership of the faction. When asked if he would join another faction, Susarenco said that he will continue to be a MP, in the service of people, and this can be made outside factions. The leader of the PPCD faction, Vlad Cubreacov, qualified Susarenco’s actions as unilateral. He said that he “regrets the gesture” and believes that it was insufficiently founded. The PPCD faction will summon a meeting in order to examine the situation, will take this act into account and will decide upon withdrawing political support for the MP, which appears as a consequence, Cubreacov mentions. Gheorghe Susarenco is a lawyer. He served as judge of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Justice as well as deputy mayor of the Chisinau municipality. He is the fourth MP in this legislature who has left the PPCD faction. On May 25, 2006, Valentina Cusnir and Zoia Jalba left the faction, and earlier - MP Ion Neagu. After Gheorghe Susarenco’s leave, PPCD faction counts 7 members, compared to 12 at the beginning of the legislature.
