Mihai Eminescu’s poetry fans, writers, art people, as well as representatives of the local public administration laid on Thursday morning, June 15, flowers at the monuments of the poet in the Square of the Organ Hall and on the Alley of Romanian Classics of the Public Garden “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant”. Thus, they honored the memory of the most brilliant poet of the Romanian literature, at the 117 th anniversary of the poet’s death. Born in Ipotesti, Botosani on January 15, 1850, being the 7-th child of those 11 of a tax collector, Gheorghe Eminovici, and Raluca Eminovici, Mihai Eminescu has written the most beautiful poems in the history of the Romanian literature, his vast creation including a great number of works and a great variety of styles. In June 1883, Mihai Eminescu has seriously fallen ill. In December the same year, the volume „Poesii” is published (Poems), the only one published in his life. The years In February 1989, he is re-hospitalized at the dr. Susu’s Sanatorium where, on June 15 he dies as result of an old heart disease. The poet is buried in Bucharest at the cemetery Belu, his coffin being carried on the shoulders of the pupils of the Institutors’ School.
