Anesthesiologist-reanimatologist succumbs to COVID-19

Doctor Constantin Grosu, who worked at the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Saint Trinity” of Chisinau, passed away. The 68-year-old anesthesiologist-reanimatologist was hospitalized on May 21, being diagnosed with COVID-19, IPN reports.

“The healthcare system lost an accomplished specialist who fulfilled his duties with responsibility and dedication, contributing to saving many lives. God rest his soul,” says a message posted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

This is the 19th health professional who succumbed to COVID-19.

The number of persons infected with the novel coronavirus in Moldova so far exceeds 13,000. More than 2,000 of those infected are healthcare workers.

The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 444, while the number of cured persons at 7,252.
