The leader of the parliamentary group Pro Moldova Andrian Candu said the current Government led by Prime Minister Ion Chicu didn’t appropriately manage the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic situation in the country. According to him, this Government is inefficient and it obeys President Igor Dodon, IPN reports.
“We are for the removal of the Government, but we realize that we cannot take this step if we don’t know exactly what happens next. Dismissing the current Government and entering a political crisis, bedside the economic and pandemic crises, is sheer suicide. It is irresponsibility towards the people and the country. We will resort to the first step only if we have clarity as to the second, third and next steps,” Andrian Candu stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
The Pro Moldova leader noted that the dismissal of the Government will be possible only after an anti-crisis plan is worked out. “When we speak about the second step, the formation of the Government, we do not discuss who should take over premiership. Initially, we should see the anti-crisis program, agree those measures and see who can implement them. We, those from Pro Moldova, will be very flexible and do not intend to hold the post of Prime Minister. We can help you govern, if you are capable of this,” he stated.
As to the Premier’s assertion that he could resign if the current parliamentary majority stops existing, Andrian Candu said Ion Chicu in fact does not need a majority to support him.
“He didn’t come to Parliament with big things, if only with the budget law and the budgetary-fiscal policy. Have you seen him more often in Parliament lately? He came with illegal assumption of responsibly, with an illegal lending agreement with the Russian Federation. If he continues to come with illegal things, he can no longer come to Parliament as he does not need a parliamentary majority. He managed the affairs during two months without a Parliament and managed them badly. What does he need a parliamentary majority for then? The Government had additional powers with which it didn’t cope,” stated the MP.
