The Head of Moldova’s Parliament and the chairman of the self-proclaimed Supreme Soviet of Transnistria for the first time will take part in an event together. In the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel, Speaker Andrian Candu said that he and Mihail Burla will jointly celebrate the International Day for Protection of Children in Chisinau, IPN.

“On June 1 Mihail Burla will come to Chisinau together with a group of children of boarding schools from the left bank of the Nistru. I will also be accompanied by a group of children. Together, during the whole day, we will take part in a cultural program dedicated to children,” stated Candu.

He noted that in the meeting he had with Burla in Bender last week, they agreed to identify solutions for the SMURD teams to provide assistance to the Transnistrians too. According to the Speaker, an improvement in the relations with Tiraspol is being witnessed. “Mihail Burla is ready for dialogue and cooperation. He is a good specialist in economy and knows very well the economic situation in the region. From January 1, 2016, the economic entities of Transnistria will not be able to export to the EU if they do not make the required changes, including in their budgetary system. I told Burla that specialists from Chisinau can offer them consultancy,” stated Candu.

Andrian Candu said the relations with Comrat are also improving. “Unlike the former governor, Irina Vlah is more pragmatic and focuses on the economic and social problems faced in the region. Vlah does not exclude cooperation with Chisinau,” he stated.

In the same program, executive director of the Resource Center for Human Rights Sergiu Ostaf said the situation in the Transnistrian region is not homogenous. “On the one hand, the chairman of the Supreme Soviet Mihail Burla is ready for dialogue with Chisinau. On the other hand, there is the executive, represented by Yevgheny Shevchuk and Nina Shtanski, who are for a more intense relationship with Moscow. Chisinau must now show more tact,” he stated.
