Andrei Stratan: U.S. is Moldova's reliable partner in settling Transnistria issue

The U.S. is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova in the process of settling the Transnistrian issue and an advocate of Moldova's European integration aspirations, stated Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan at a meeting with David Merkel, Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Info-Prim Neo reports. Attending the High-Level Plenary Meeting of the 63rd UN General Assembly, Andrei Stratan held on September 29 a series of bilateral meetings. At the meeting with David Kramer, the Moldovan official expressed his high regard for the Moldo-American partnership, and in particular for the constant political support and the valuable assistance in promoting democratic and economic reform in Moldova. During the bilateral meeting with Ali Babacan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Andrei Stratan underlined the importance of continuing the political dialogue. The sides have agreed to mutually back the efforts of their states as candidates to various bodies of the United Nations. While meeting with the Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sven Alkalaj, Stratan highlighted the need to deepen cooperation relations both at bilateral and multilateral levels. After delivering his speech at the Plenary Meeting of the UN General Assembly, Andrei Stratan co-chaired the event as vice president of the UN General Assembly for the duration of the 63rd session.
