Moldova’s Anastasia Nikita went through to the final of the World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, qualifying this way for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, IPN reports.
The wrestler beat Bulgaria’s Evelina Nikolova, Uzbekistan’s Laylokhon Sobirova, Odunayo Adekyoroye of Nigeria and Elvira Kamaloglu of Turkey in the 57kg weight class. She defeated Odunayo Adekyoroye also at the Tokyo Olympics. In the final, Anastasia Nikita will meet Japan’s Tsugumi Sakurai, a double world champion.
In the 55kg weight class, Mariana Draguțan won a bronze medal. In the small final of the 55kg class, she won against Canada’s Karla Gonzales. Mariana also defeated Turkey’s Melda Dernekci and Hungary’s Erika Bognar, while in the semifinals lost to Haruna Okuno of Japan. The 55kg class is not an Olympic one.
Iulia Leorda (53 kg), Mariana Cherdivară-Eșanu (62 kg) and Irina Rîngaci (68 kg) enter the competition on Wednesday.
