Anastasia Nichita won silver at the World Youth Freestyle Wrestling Championship that was held in Tampere, Finland. She was beaten only by Japan’s Yuzuru Kumano, IPN reports.
Before reaching the final in the 59 kg class, Nichita scored three sensational victories: 8-6 against Jing Jiang of China, 10-0 against Nabira Esenbaeva of Uzbekistan and 7-4 against Grace Jacob Bullen of Norway, who is the current European youth champion. Last year Anastasia ranked second in the Cadets World Championship.
Instead, the male athletes were eliminated early from the competition in Finland. Maxim Carabadjac is the only one who scored a victory. Another six Moldovan athletes - Ion Topala, Petru Craciun, Stefan Tonu, Andrian Grosul, Dmitri Ceacusta and Samhan Jabrailov – lost the first matches.
