The Central Standing Bureau (CSB) of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party opts for a further enlargement of the majority coalition in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) in order to bolster its stability and efficiency. The party urges its city councilmen to be active and constrictive in the process of fulfilling the political and electoral promises made by AMN, the party said in a press release. At the same time, CSB of AMN qualified the situation that persists in the CMC as alarming, including because its leadership and the top administration of the City Hall haven’t been appointed yet. The members of the Bureau believe that such a situation jeopardises the activity of the city authorities and find it suitable to make AMN’s concerns public. It was pointed out that the formation of the democratic majority in Chisinau has been always difficult. Yet, when Serafim Urecheanu was Mayor General and the situation more complicated, he managed to deal away with all the obstacles and obtain a functioning majority in the City Council. Now this primary responsibility rests on the shoulders of the incumbent Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca and on the Liberal Party, which has the largest number of seats among the participants in the coalition. The Moldova Noastra Alliance supports without reserves the strengthening and expansion of the non-communist coalition and calls on all the democratic forces in the CMC to be cooperative and prove that the democratic option is viable and capable of overcoming any momentary issues. The majority coalition in the CMC is formed by four parties - the Liberal Party, the Moldova Noastra Alliance, the Christian-Democrat People’s party and the Democratic Party. The coalition includes 26 councillors, the minimum number required to form a majority in a 51-seat council. So far, the coalition has failed to elect the CMC chairman and the administration of the City Hall. Some of the coalition members emphasised the necessity of letting the Social-Democrat faction join the coalition.
