AMN leader claims his party colleague Vasile Colta lost sense of shame
The “Our Moldova Alliance” (AMN) will take drastic measures towards its member, parliamentarian Vasile Colta, in regards to his recent attempt to cross the Moldovan-Romanian border with a batch of undeclared cigarettes.
Serafim Urecheanu, AMN leader, told Info-Prim Neo on his arriving from Brussels that this is an uncommon case; the party’s leadership pleads for respecting the law and penalizing any member misconducting himself. “We’ll take the most drastic measures. Colta cannot complain of poverty and could have avoided his deed. He must have lost his sense of shame,” AMN leader said. He maintained that his party colleagues will evaluate this case in an adequate manner, which constitutes a signal for them.
According to a prior statement belonging to AMN deputy-chairman Veaceslav Untila, in case the information is officially confirmed, Colta will face the party’s admonishment. “AMN will not tolerate any illegality, should it belong to simple member or a parliamentarian.”
Customs officers and border policemen at the Albita checkpoint have discovered during a regular customs inspection over 11,000 undeclared packs of cigarettes concealed in the car driven by MP Vasile Colta. The merchandise worth RON 25,500 (about MDL 123,000) was taken to be subjected to subsequent confiscation, and Colta was fined RON 3,000 (MDL 14,500).
