Amendments to Law on Preventing and Combating Organized Crime

The law enforcement agencies will be able to apply mechanisms for collecting relevant data and information on criminal organizations and monitoring the assemblies of members of organized criminal groups. Parliament gave a final reading to amendments to the Law on Preventing and Combating Organized Crime, IPN reports.

Under the draft law, the measure will apply to organizations created from the funds of an organized criminal group or to organizations that provide assistance and support to an organized criminal group.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the sponsor of the bill, this will boost the process of preventing and combating organized crime and will provide tools to the state to intervene as promptly as possible.

Also, the new provisions will enable to swiftly identify the members of criminal groups, the ways of operating and accumulating the financial means for the maintenance of the organization.
