The list of high performance medical services of the common mandatory health insurance program could be supplemented with seven new services, IPN reports, quoting an initiative proposed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
The new services are: immunohistochemical testing that helps diagnose cancer metastases, molecular-geneticist investigations important in diagnosing and treating patients with particular types of leukemia, trepan-biopsy of lung tumors, mammary glands and prostate, image-enhanced endoscopy for improving screening and detecting precancerous states.
All these are minimally invasive procedures for patients.
