“Alexei Mateevici” Poetic Theater opens season with premiere of “Venetian”

According to the theater's director Eugen Carciumaru, the play is directed by Vlad Ciobanu. The members of the cast are Gheorghe Pietraru, Dorin Gribincea, Lucia Pogor, Lidia Novicov, Lina Mandru and Ludmila Botnaru. The repertoire of the Poetic Theater includes such plays as “Nostalgia” by Mihai Eminescu, produced by Nicolae Jelescu, “I Called You” by Grigore Vieru, “Sweegs, Crosses and Apples” by Iulian Filip. Anatol Codru will direct his play “Reading Stone” where the leading part will be played by actress Margareta Nazarchevici. The theater will also present the play "So Many Stars Fall this Night" by Lucian Blaga, dramatization by Nicolae Jelescu, director and protagonist also Nicolae Jelescu. The 2009-2010 season also includes the plays “Sad and Joyful Ballades” by George Toparceanu and Dumitru Matcovschi's “The Cain Dynasty”. At the start of October, “Alexei Mateevici” Theater will go the Romanian town of Iasi with Grigore Vieru's “I Called You”, directed by Anatol Codru. Eugen Carciumaru said that the theater this autumn will travel to the largest Moldova towns on tour. Boris Bechet, an actor at “Alexei Mateevici” Theater, said that the theater's actors in the new season want as many roles as possible and, of course, higher salaries.
