Nothing affects the judiciary sector reform more than the attempt to transform the problems faced in the legal system into election campaign subjects. The political competitors should now exclude the subjects related to the justice sector reform from the political confrontation, ex-president of the Constitutional Court and ex-minister of justice Alexandru Tănase was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Red button” on Moldova 1 channel.
Alexandru Tănase said the justice sector reform is a hyper-difficult issue. It is very hard to reform the justice sector. The low level of confidence in justice could be further diminished if speculations are made. “The solutions in justice are not the most popular ones and no politician who holds power can speak openly about the solutions for this sector as they are not popular and are difficult and take time,” stated the former minister.
Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu said a rather interesting tendency is now witnessed in the justice system and justice sector reform and in the fight against corruption. “We saw particular results in the fight against corruption during the past few years, but the justice sector reform failed in parts. We regret a lot and assume a part of the responsibility, not because the laws were bad as we have very good laws. The whole political class and society probably failed the test as regards the implementation and common sense. It is hard to say who is to blame. Time has probably come to take more radical and unordinary decisions,” stated the MP.
The president of the Party “Democracy at Home” Vasile Costiuc said the lack of confidence in justice is a fundamental problem. The judicial system should be now built from zero. The current public perception is that the ruling party gives instructions to the judiciary.
