Alexandru Tanase: It was our duty to cast light on April 2009 events

One of the reasons why Alexandru Tanase left politics is the case concerning the April 7, 2009 events. In a program on ProTV Chisinau channel, Alexandru Tanase said that there are different stances on the April 2009 events inside the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), Info-Prim Neo reports. “I think it was our duty, of the ruling alliance, to cast light on the April 7, 2009 events and get rid of the persons who had been involved,” said Alexandru Tanase. The former first vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party also said that Vitalie Nagacevschi, ex-member of the PLDM and chairman of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the April 2009 events, left the party because he was made a scapegoat and his public image was damaged intentionally. “I’m sure that he was discredited as someone wanted Vitalie Nagacevschi to appear in a bad light,” said Alexandru Tanase. He stated that he abandoned politics after the Government named him judge at the Constitutional Court. He stressed that from April 12, he will make no statements about the political activities.
