The candidate for the post of Bashkan (Governor) of Gagauzia Alexandru Stoianoglo said the future administration of Gagauzia must not deal with politicianism because Gagauzia already asserted itself at political level and there are laws stipulating the status of the region that has powers and competences. According to him, the new authorities must deal with the economic and social problems.
Alexandru Stoianoglo has told IPN that investments should be attracted to the region and an economic model typical of the region must be implemented, namely for developing agriculture, breeding animals, processing products, etc. As regards the relations with the central authorities, a constructive dialogue should be maintained, based on mutual respect that will help solve many problems.
According to the candidate, the current election campaign takes places correctly, but the massive support of forces from outside the country, especially for one candidate, is evident. In such conditions, the pro-Russian factor has an effect on the feelings of the people from the region and these vote with the heart, not consciously. Such moments distract the people’s attention from the problems existing in the region. “Gagauzia is not and should not be the region where geopolitical problems are solved,” stated Alexandru Stoianoglo.
The elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. After two registered candidates withdrew, the race for the post of Bashkan now includes the following contenders: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.
