The former minister of the interior Alexandru Jizdan, currently Democratic MP, said the current government is trying to demoralize the Democratic Party before the October 20 local elections and aims to have a new prosecutor general so as to intimidate some of the MPs, IPN reports.

“What the current government does now can be described as attempts to demoralize the party before the local elections and it will take considerable steps for the Democratic Party to become ‘very demoralized’, as they say, by the elections. We already know that they want a prosecutor general who could be maximally used to intimidate MPs,” Alexandru Jizdan stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel.

As to Vladimir Plahotniuc’s withdrawal from the leadership of the PDM, Alexandru Jizdan said this was a mature decision. “If you brought the party to the opposition by your acts, it means that something went wrong and things in the management of the party should be changed,” stated the MP, noting he didn’t know that Vladimir Plahotniuc intended to leave.

Alexandru Jizdan also said that he attentively follows the Ministry of the Interior’s activity. “I will intervene every time serious mistakes will be made there,” he stated, adding the difficult situations are not managed correctly at present, but admitted that he also made mistakes while in office.

“The Ministry of the Interior was created so as to be able to work without a minister. If a minister hadn’t been named there, things could have developed property for one more year from now. In some of the cases, when you don’t know all the processes, you should better not prevent the staff from working,” stated the ex-minister of the interior, noting some of the ministers need eight-nine months to understand how to manage and this also refers to incumbent minister Andrei Năstase.
