Alexandru Epureanu will not play for six months

The captain of the national football team of Moldova Alexandru Epureanu will miss the final of the qualifying rounds of the 2016 European Championship. He will not take part in the matches against

Austria, Montenegro, Russia and Sweden as he was sidelined by injury in the first half of the game against Liechtenstein, IPN reports.

Epureanu suffered a cruciate ligament rupture. This is the most serious injury he sustained in his career. The 28-year-old fullback was named the best Moldovan footballer four times. Playing in the championship of Turkey last season, he managed to score four goals against Istanbul Bashakshehir, which is interested in signing the Moldovan player.

Artur Ionita suffered an injury in the national team’s encounter with Sweden and will thus miss the start of the preparations for the new season in Series A. His presence in the national squad’s matches of this September is also in question.
