Young poet Alexandru Cosmescu launched his first poetry volume titled “A kind space that welcomes me by embracing me” on October 17. The book was printed at the Cartier publishing house. The event started with the observance of a moment’s silence in memory of poet Eugen Cioclea, who died recently.
Former faculty mates, friends, literary critics and other people of art came to support Alexandru Cosmescu and to share their opinions about the book at the “Centru Bookshop” that hosted the launch.
Poet and dramatist Dumitru Crudu said that this book lays emphasis on ethics, morality and humanity. The poems are mature and have a philosophic line. The Romanian literature has been waiting for such poems that influence the reader ethically and esthetically for a long time.
Literary critic Maria Pilchin said that she liked Alexandru Cosmescu’s poems very much. It is a somatic, not pornographic poetry as the eroticism is presented delicately, which is a rare quality among the current young poets. The poems are also warm and educative.
Gheorghe Erizanu, director of Cartier, said he considers himself lucky because Alexandru Cosmescu chose their publishing house. Even if he is the son of the great scholar Alexandru Cosmescu, the young Alex Cosmescu met the expectations. The book was printed in 450 copies. The Ministry of Culture bought 30 of them for the public libraries, while about 100 will be sold in Romanian bookstores.
Alexandru Cosmescu was born in Chisinau in 1985. He graduated from the Roman-Latin Section of the Languages Faculty of the State University of Moldova in 2008. He is a Master of Philosophy and a Doctor of Philology. He taught philosophy at several universities in Chisinau. Now he works as a scientific researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
