Radu Albot has won one more derby of the Moldovan tennis players at the ITF Futures Tournament in Antalya, Turkey. In the second round of the competition, Albot defeated his colleague from Moldova’s national team Andrei Ciumac 6-3, 6-7, 7-5, IPN reports.
In the previous round, Albot won against his conational Maxim Dubarenko. It is for the first time in history that the Moldovan tennis players are opponents in international tournaments.
In the quarterfinals, Radu Albot will meet Neil Pauffley of the UK. In the doubles, the 23-year-old athlete was eliminated from the competition. Playing together with Turkey’s Barkin Yalcinkale, they lost to the favorites No.3 Mihail Biryukov of Russia and Maxim Dubarenko 7-6, 7-6.
In 2012, the best-ranked Moldovan tennis player won two victories in Futures tournaments in Turkey.
