Visit to Albania of the president of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, started with a bilateral meeting with the head of this country, Alfred Moisiu, which was followed by a plenary meeting of official delegations of both countries. Later the heads of the states held a press conference for Albanian and Moldovan reporters. Voronin had meetings with other Albanian officials as well, according to president services’ report. The president of Albania mentioned that recently, Tirana have concluded the European Union Stabilisation and Association Agreement, expressing the confidence of Albanian authorities in assisting Moldova in order to develop the European integration way. Alfred Moisiu also said that Albania is interested in intensifying the commercial-economic cooperation with Moldova. Alfred Moisiu informed Vladimir Voronin about the negotiations in Kosovo matter, Moldovan president reported to the latter one, at his turn his counterpart of Tirana, regarding the actual negotiations level in Transnistrian matter. During the press conference, Alfred Moisiu noted that the current official visit of Moldova’s president to Albania, the first in the history of bilateral relations, confirmed the highlighting of the interests of both states in giving an impetus to cooperation relations. Moldova’s president mentioned the radical differences between the conflict of Kosovo and the Transnistrian one. At the ground of the Transnistrian conflict are not ethnic or religious reasons, the history, as well as the evolution of these conflicts are different, Voronin underscored. „The solutions cannot be implemented to different problems, but we have to result of concrete situations, existent in an area or another,” he said. During the meeting with the prime minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, the counterparts made exchange of opinion and information on internal developments of both countries, as well as the perspectives of bilateral economic cooperation. Further Voronin had a meeting with the Albanian speaker, Jozefina Topalli. Voronin and Topalli reported to each other about the social political development in Chisinau and Tirana. Vladimir Voronin was for the first time in Albania. President Alfred Moisiu has visited Moldova for the first time in November 2004.
