The air pollution level in the municipality of Chisinau remains high. The average daily at the end of last year was 2.8 times higher for PM10, the Environment Agency noted in a press release.

According to the quoted source, the high was due to the weather condition and heavy vehicle traffic, smoke and soot coming from home heating, IPN reports.

The influence of the warm sector in combination with the weak wind and presence of retaining strata contributed to the accumulation of pollutants in the air. The lack of intense movement of air masses in horizontal and vertical directions led to a higher than allowed sanitary norm for PM10 particles.
