AIE sees 2012 as year of stability, opposition sees it as year of poverty
The MPs of the Alliance for European Integration see 2012 as a year of stability progress and reforms. On the other side, the Communists claim that in 2012 people got poorer, institutions more corrupted and the government more indifferent towards the people’s needs, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Speaker Marian Lupu said during the last meeting this year that in 2012 the Parliament voted reforms for improving the life of citizens and the activity of institutions. He remarked that the election of the President was the test of maturity that the political class passed. “The European option is gaining status. European reforms are not a goal in itself, but it is these difficult and delicate reforms that must ensure a decent standard of life for the people of this country”. Marian Lupu hopes that next year there would be more wisdom in the Alliance, because there had been tense moments, personal attacks and so on.
Leader of the PLDM group Valeriu Strelet said that 2012 was special because of some events and processes that don’t happen every year. He referred to the reforms in the fields of police, justice, agriculture and education. However, he admitted that the year was marked by some difficulties and quarrels. “We get the feeling that some of our colleagues only work for the cameras. In order to obtain everything, we must join our forces. Disputes don’t improve things”, said the MP.
Head of the PDM group Dumitru Diacov said that in two years the Parliament managed to walk a historic path and to gain experience that will be useful in future. “The Parliament of Moldova contributed to maintaining the political, social and economic balance in order to offer a chance of internal development. We can confirm that the Parliament fulfilled all its duties”.
Leader of the Liberal group Ion Hadarca said that the MPs voted many important laws in various fields, but remarked that the Education Code was one of the unfulfilled goals. He stressed that MPs must focus their efforts on improving the life of people. Hadarca also mocked Minister of Foreign Affairs Iurie Leanca, saying that he thought about resigning and being saved by his boss.
PCRM’s Gheorghe Anghel complained about the smuggling, dilapidation of public funds and political prostitution that marred 2012. “Today’s Moldova is a country of rising debts, without investments or economic growth, with the highest taxes in ex-Soviet countries. It is a state with a violated Constitution, with captured institutions. It’s a pity you don’t go through the country to see the situation”.
Unaffiliated MP Zinaida Greceanii thinks that 2012 revealed the mistaken character of the economic and fiscal-budgetary policies promoted by the AIE. The Government failed to finalize the program with the International Monetary Fund, left the farmers to deal with the consequences of drought by themselves, without providing the necessary support. “Regardless of the party you belong to, regardless of whether you are in power or in opposition, you must join efforts and work for the benefit of those whose trust and vote we obtained, of those who entrusted us to represent them in the Parliament of Moldova”, she said.
The last meeting of the Parliament in the autumn-winter session this year took place on Friday, December 28. The PCRM group left the meeting before Zinaida Greceanii’s speech.
