AEI wants common pensioning system: 42% of salary
The MPs of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) plead for a common pensioning system that would provide that the pension of all the groups of people represents 42% of the salary. The announcement was made by the leaders of the component parties of the ruling alliance immediately after an AEI meeting in extended format held on March 22, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We will implement reforms as we should. We cannot accept the situation when a person has a high salary and receives a pension that constitutes 42% of it, while another person has a lower salary, but his pension represents 75% of the salary. Thus, the latter does not tend to make progress and receive a higher salary,” explained the leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu.
For his part, Liberal-Democrat lawmaker Veaceslav Ionita, chairman of the Parliament’s commission on economy, said the pensions of some of the people are too high. “There are over 100 persons in Moldova who receive pensions that are higher than the salaries of many,” he stated.
According to Mihai Ghimpu as well as the leader of the Democratic parliamentary group Dumitru Diacov and the head of the PLDM’s group Mihai Godea, the AIE is considering the possibility of increasing excises on beer and tobacco. The move is aimed at reducing the number of persons who drink alcohol and smoke and the number of cases of family violence.
Veaceslav Ionita also said that before taking a decision as regards excises, they will discuss with a series of companies.
The heavyweights of the three parties of the ruling alliance plead for raising the minimum salary from 1,100 to 1,500 lei, but admit that the reform will not be implemented quickly as they should hold consultations with trade unions and employer first.
Subjects concerning the pensions, excise duties, the fiscal and budget policy will be discussed by the permanent commissions on March 24. A part of them were included in the agenda of the Parliament’s sitting as well.
