The investigation into the bank fraud advanced compared with a year ago, but nobody knows how much as the members of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the fraud do not have access to the materials of the criminal case, said Socialist MP Adrian Lebedinschi, a member of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the bank fraud.

“Maybe we should be involved as experts in the examination of this criminal case so that we gain access to that secret information and help them. I understand that the Prospector’s Office will avoid involving politicians in the process, but I would like much better trained specialists to lend a hand,” Adrian Lebedinschi stated in the public debate titled “Investigation of bank fraud: actions, perceptions, reasonable timeframes” that was organized by IPN News Agency.

The MP noted that the role of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office until 2019 had been to destroy all the evidence and direct public opinion to an incorrect path. A working group consisting of judges of the ordinary court, the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court of Justice could be ultimately set up to investigate the bank theft.

“I see no other solution. Different prosecutors, different judges will need time to familiarize themselves with the situation. They are citizens who daily travel to work and return. They are exposed to a danger and their security should be thus ensured,” said Adrian Lebedinschi, noting this should be done as the prosecutors requested the court to sequestrate assets where money stolen from the three banks were allegedly used, but the courts held there were no reasons for doing this.
