The list of passengers who will arrive in the Republic of Moldovan by plane will be analyzed by representatives of state institutions. Under the bill approved by the Cabinet, the airlines will be obliged to furnish data about passengers who are to land in Moldova. Minister Efros said the process will help the law enforcement agencies to prevent acts of terrorism and to counteract any threat to state security.
“We are on the ground of a hybrid war and we should therefore assess all the risks and weaknesses. We have clear-cut profiles to which we must devote attention and must additionally check these persons. In the Cabinet meeting, there was approved the bill on access to the list of passengers, which will facilitate the procedure for thoroughly examining any person before the plane lands in the Republic of Moldova. This way, we will be able to analyze all the passengers who are abroad and will know the possible risks,” Adrian Efros stated in the program “Reflection Points” on Vocea Basarabiei station.
According to the minister, the data of passengers and crew members will be examined so as to swiftly identify persons suspected of planning to undermine national security. The information will be stored in a register of data for a period of five years.
“It is a European mechanism and it is very efficient. In two years of its launch, a common unit was created. It is a database to which specialized services have access to exchange information about all the passengers,” said the official.
