Adrian Dupu, a candidate for senator in the Parliament of Romania on behalf of the National Liberal Party (PNL) for the diaspora, said that one of his priorities will be to amend the law on regaining citizenship. "Together with my colleagues, we are already working on the new bill and are looking for solutions so that the period for solving the cases does not exceed one year," said Adrian Dupu, quoted by IPN.
The PNL diaspora’s candidate noted that he already had a number of meetings with the new leadership of the National Authority for Citizenship and requested an analysis of the main factors that currently lead to the long waiting time.
According to him, it is also unacceptable that, after waiting for years to become Romanian citizens again, they wait again a few more months for the documents to be transcribed. In his opinion, this is also true for Romanians abroad with documents issued by the states of adoption.
"That’s why I will propose the establishment of civil status centers for the transcription of civil status documents only for Romanians abroad and those who have regained citizenship. I will make sure that no Romanian abroad will wait for months and years to obtain the documents they deserve," stated Adrian Dupu.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Romania between November 30 and December 1. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova who hold Romanian passports will be able to exercise their right to vote at the 59 polling stations established on the territory of the country, of which 17 – in the north, 34 – in the center and 8 – in the south of Moldova.
