Admission demand exceeds universities' offers
The admission demand significantly exceeded the state scholarships offer of universities. The most demanded faculties this year have been the ones teaching economics, law, dentistry and foreign languages. Applicants could file in their documents from July 16 through 31.
Eugen Tcaciuc, the secretary of the admission commission of the Medicine University, has told Info-Prim Neo that they accepted 1,617 applications. Very popular was the dentistry faculty: 35 applicants per one place. Most of the applications referred however to the medicine specialty, as most of the places were offered in this area. Following are the faculties of pharmacology and public health.
3,000 applications were submitted to the Economic Studies Academy (ASEM), as other 1,000 applied -- for mastership degrees. The most popular faculties remained the ones of business and business administration, banks, finances and accountancy, said Ala Cotelnic, the first pro-rector of the Academy.
The most popular faculties of the Moldova State University remain the ones teaching economics, law, international relations and foreign languages. Teodor Luchian, an official with this University says it got 4,600 applications for license studies and 1,400 for mastership studies.
The admission results will be announced on August 5. A repeated contest will start on August 6 and will last till August 10.
The Education and Youth Ministry decided to prolong, till August 25, the admission period for vocational schools, so that lycee graduates may get a place, if they fail to enter a university.
According to the admission plan, 19,425 candidates will get matriculated in 2009, as 7,270 of them will receive state scholarships. 12,155 will pay for their education. 2,470 people will study for their master degrees.
