Activities dedicated to Earth Hour

A number of activities, including contests and artistic performances, will be staged on the pedestrian street of Chisinau on March 28, when it is marked Earth Hour, IPN reports.

The Ministry of the Environment said that an asphalt drawing contest entitled “Smile – Planet Loves You” will start at 5pm. At 6pm, the public will be provided with information about the global event Earth Hour. The participants in the event “Your Challenge” will be urged to leave messages on sheets of paper, answering the question “What will you do for the planet?”. Afterward, all the ideas will be published on the website and will be read from the stage during the festivity.

A concert will follow with the participation of the children’s vocal-choreographic ensemble “Lolly Pops”, singer Maria Iliut, the ethnic-folkloric ensemble “Crenguta de Iedera”, the band “Andy Oncea”, the duo “Glam Girls” and singer Cristina Croitoru.

At 8:30pm, the lights will be turned off and there will be lit torches. The Quintet of the National Philharmonic will give a performance of classical music. Singer Dara will hold a voice and guitar mini-recital. The Presidential Brass Band will also perform. In parallel, a group of people will stage a flashmob event and will arrange candles in the form “60+”.

The program of activities will end with the lighting of candles and the singing of the song “Children of Planet Earth” by Denis Cojocaru. Minister of the Environment Sergiu Palihovici will give a speech before those attending.
