Active african swine fever outbreaks in Drochia and Criuleni

The National Food Safety Agency has confirmed the presence of the African swine fever virus in samples taken from pigs in two households located in Popestii de Sus, Drochia district, and Cimiseni village, Criuleni district, IPN reports.

In accordance with current regulations, the Emergency Situations Commissions of Drochia and Criuleni have been requested to convene and approve measures to combat the outbreak.

Since the beginning of this year, 14 outbreaks of swine fever have been recorded in non-commercial farms in the districts of Criuleni, Dondușsni, Soldanesti, and Drochia.

For animals affected by diseases such as African swine fever, avian flu, or rabies that are culled, owners receive compensation from the state. Additionally, authorities provide rewards to individuals who report the location of wild boar carcasses. The reward value is 50 euros per reported carcass.

ANSA urges citizens not to purchase food products from unauthorized sources, particularly pork products from neighboring countries. Any meat brought from these areas will be confiscated and destroyed.
