Accusations against Invitro Diagnostics concerning incorrect testing for COVID

During the pandemic, the center Invitro Diagnostics applied an incorrect methodology to test for COVID-19, using a test to examine several persons. The data on tests for COVID performed during two years, which were presented by the manager of the center, are different form the data of the National Public Health Agency, said the manager of GBG-MLD Tudor Tchaikovsky. According to him, the commission of illegalities and the robbing of Invitro Diagnostics started in 2021, when his son Alexandru Tchaikovsky was illegally removed from the company’s management.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, Tudor Tchaikovsky said that during the pandemic, each laboratory was obliged to present information about the number of tests for COVID done daily to the National Public Health Agency (NPHA). “According to the report presented by director Balanuță, 59,854 tests for COVID were performed in 2020, while the official information of the NPHA shows that 68,800 tests were done in 2020. The difference for 2020 is of 8,966 tests. In 2021, there were performed 237,293 tests, while the official information provided by the NPHA shows that 272,598 tests were performed. The difference for 2021-2022 is of 35,305 tests for COVID,” said Tudor Tchaikovsky.

According to him, the figures show a difference of about 32 million lei, which is not indicated in the accounting records of Invitro Diagnostics. “The analysis of the data presented by Mister Balanuță shows that a bought test in 2020 was used to conduct an examination for a COVID patient, while in 2021 a test purchased from the producer, according to the accounting records, was used to perform 2.2 tests. The NPHA figures show that a purchased test was used to perform 2.5 examinations. This difference points to the fact that under the management of Mister Balanuță, not all the tests were done according to the methdolohgy approved by the producer of COVID tests,” said the manager of GBG-MLD. Tudor Tchaikovsky considers these aspects should be probed by the law enforcement agencies.

Lawyer Vitalie Nagachevski said the methodology was incorrect primarily from moral viewpoint and also from technological viewpoint. “When a test is used for several persons, it does not have the same sensibility. We paid for a full test, but received what was being offered to us. And we were unable to check. So, it was a large-scale fraud that generated super profit to those who control the financial resources at Invitro,” stated the lawyer.

“Unverified information shows that the money was partially used to also finance political activities in the Republic of Moldova, parties that undermine the constitutional order in the Republic of Moldova. We surely denounced all these illegalities to the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in the hope that a thorough investigation will be conducted, with the deriving conclusions and, if necessary, with eventual decisions of the authorities, courts of law, prosecutors, investigation officers,” noted Vitalie Nagachevski.
