Academician Mitrofan Ciobanu was awarded with „Academician C. Sibirschi”
The highest distinction for scientific researches in mathematics in Moldova, the award „Academician C. Sibirschi”, was awarded to academician Mitrofan Ciobanu, rector of the State University of Tiraspol, with headquarters in Chisinau, for his work cycle “Topologic methods in algebra and mathematic analysis”.
According to a press release, the scientist is known as the author of over 250 scientific works, highly appreciated by scientists of the country and foreign ones.
Previous winners of the award „Academician C. Sibirschi”, of USD 1,000, were – Boris Scerbacov, Nicolae Vulpe, Nicolae Jitarasu, Vladimir Arnautov, Mefodie Rata, Dumitru Lozovanu, Mihai Popa.
The award „Academician C. Sibirschi” was initiated in 1999 by the non-governmental society with the same name, led by dr. Valeriu Sibirschi, US citizen, nephew of the Moldovan scientist, in order to stimulate the researches in the field of mathematics.
